Ericksonian Hypnosis Study & Practice

Next Hypnosis Study and Practice will be on January 28th 2010
I thought you would enjoy this great Video, many times Milton Erickson speaks in such a slow and deliberate way some people have said that they would like to hear what exactly he is saying.
This Video is fantastic in that it has been Subtitled in English for all to see, Notice all you can about the way Milton Erickson easily communicates "Milton Model Language" as he hypnotizes.
The Video also is simultaneously being translated into Russian.
To find out more about Milton Erickson
please click here

You will be introduced to the other side of Hypnosis How it works, why it works and the beginning stages of how to do it.

This Class is suitable for Hypnosis / Hypnotherapists who would like to practice newcomers to Hypnosis and anyone with a little bit of curiosity.

Christmas Trance Induction

Happy Holidays to Everyone who celebrates Christmas Chanukah and or Kwanzaa.
Peace on earth and Goodwill to All Wo/men no matter what you celebrate.

It is interesting the spirit of graciousness that seems to flow from most everyone at this time of year.

All of a sudden people are happy and friendly and there are lots of smiles all around, we suddenly all become "One" in this glorious Xmas Bubble.

I love it I am not complaining for a minute, I am Just sayin ..

The idea of Xmas for many is such an Anchor to childhood. Dreams and Fantasies of Father Christmas and his Large Jolly Tummy, kindly soul who works hard to pump out all the presents in time for all the good girls and Boys to get their pressies in time.

Elf's in Green Tunics with striped stockings and Fairy's covered in beautiful sparkling pixie dust. The smell of Hot Mince pies or Gingerbread, The sumptuous taste of Trifle or Hot apple Pie and the jingling of the bells, that remind you of the frolicking reindeer hurtling through the sky with Father Christmas and the elfs delivering to all the good girls and boys ...

Quite an Induction isn't it ..

It is as if we are in all in a mass altered state for a few days out of the year and on the 25th of December we reach Anchor Point. The exact Peak of our State as we have induced ourselves into this exotic mass Trance ... I am wondering if this is what the 60's was about and if so maybe this is why Timothy Leary wrote books about advocating Acid.

Being a curious Mind, many thoughts dance around in my head as I indulge in just one more mince pie ..

Why do we not create this state of Euphoria in other times of normal life, would it not be convenient to change states at the drop of a hat and imagine all the things I have just described and get to Anchor point alone or with others and Maintain the state for as long as we want, when we want.

Is it that we only "allow" ourselves this indulgence at Christmas.
Do we not deserve it at any other time or is it something else.

Yes indeed, there are so many anchors Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Gustatory and Olfactory Representations reinforcing our Associations to the "Magic of Christmas" and if we decided to not participate it wouldn't have the internal effect on us.

Well it is quite nice to get caught up in it .....

Yes sure, influence has much to do with it although at some point we decide if we will be influenced... I'm just saying...

Is Christmas just another Matrix an Illusion how many people carry the original Religious Associations in their practices as before, is Christmas just a Retailers dream a time when they can sell more than ever as people are on such an emotional high and so easily influenced.

The word Christmas doesn't actually mean all it represents to each of us, for example my Idea of Christmas may be completely different to yours depending on cultural differences, where I grew up, Family Traditions, Values, Religious Beliefs and more ..

However strangely, at this time of year we seem easily able to overcome all of these differences and focus on what is the same about us.
The fact that we all want to share this Holiday in peace love and Unity.

What are your own thought about this just curious... please Chime in.

The Influencers of Neuro Linguistic Programming

Where did NLP originate from and why do people often reference Gestalt Therapy  when speaking about NLP.

NLP was comprised of many different applications including influences from Gestalt Therapy.

The Technology that Influenced NLP are as follows:

General Semantics - Alfred Korzybyski
General Semantics Website
Linguistics - Chomsky
Noam Chomsky website
Neurology - From the Neuro Sciences
Neurology Journal
Transpersonal Assagioli & Maslow
About Abraham Maslow
About Robert Assagioli
Existential humanistic Psychology Fritz Perls and Rogers
Address from Stephen Perls on his Father Fritz Perls
Carl Rogers an Analysis of his Theory of Personality
Family Systems - Virginia Satir
The Virginia Satir Network
Cognitive Psychology - Miller, Gallenter, Pibram
Cognitive Psychology
Transformational Grammar - Norm Chomsky
Look under Noam Chomsky Site listed above
Logical Levels - Gregory Bateson
More about gregory bateson
Medical Hypnosis - Milton Erickson
About Milton Erickson written by Doug O'Brien

Of course NLP has come along way since then once you begin to learn more about NLP you can search the NLP Family Tree in the other direction.

This makes really interesting reading and will help you gain more of an over all understanding of what NLP Can accomplish and why it was designed in the first place.

Happy Reading.

Meta Model Deletions intensive - NLP Teleclass

The Meta Model is A Precise Linguistic Pattern of Information Gathering Designed to Reach the "deep Structure of The Speakers Map of the World"

The Meta model is designed to "Chunk down" (get as specific as possible / Detailed Information) to understand the Speakers Experience.

This is useful to Gain a better understanding of how to communicate Excellently and become clear and avoid misunderstanding in the future.
This will prevent others from Bamboozling you and pulling the wool over your eyes with fancy Fast talking as you begin to understand deletions and get a firm grasp on the power Meta model Excellence !

Language and communication are important for all people who wish to improve their relationships to others personally and Professionally. The Meta Model has a Surface Structure and a Deep Structure which Interpret the Speakers Experience.
When you are fully Trained in understanding the Meta Model you will notice how the speaker codes their experience and relates it to the amount of choices available to Her/His Life.
Most Commonly the speaker is Dissociated from the Deep Structure of their experience, and code their language to Surface structure Linguistics.

In other words when you are trained in this modality you will learn to assist the speaker in moving their processes forward and giving options for them to change their mind.

Meta Model = Deletion & Generalization & Distortion

There are 3 ways to Break down this Communication Model:

People Can Delete - Generalize - Distort their experience.

In this Tele class we will be discussing Deletion = Gathering Information !

The Meta Model can be overwhelming to many old and new students of Neuro Linguistic Programming, it involves 12 Excellent Specific Linguistic Patterns
I have chunked this Class down for the attendee to get a full and conclusive understanding of how to successfully apply and master The Meta Model Deletions.

NLP Training Class - Representation Systems - Visual Sub modalities To The Max - Tele Class

Visual Sub modalities are Part of the Representation System used to code and interpret External information through our own internal process:
There are Five senses:
Visual
Auditary
Kinesthetic
Olfactory
Gustatory

These combined are called the Representational System.
The Significance of the Representational System and the most effective way to access Sub modalities can often be over looked.
In this Class You will learn all you will ever need to know about bringing your' or other peoples Meanings, Beliefs, and "Maps of the World" to the surface.

Influences to our Language and Behavior - NLP Communication | NLP is Fun

When we think and speak something we are experiencing our own "Point of View" or "Map of the World" if you like, "our own idea of Reality".

We can often get an understanding of how people experience the world by the way they re-present this information in their Language (the words they choose to communicate).

Q: How is this possible, How can we tell so much from a person with an offhand comment or statement.

A: People translate their interpretation of an experience through their preference and most related sense of communication and add their own ideas of Beliefs Values and experiences to the mix.

People often communicate in ways that they believe are absolutes such as:
"Everyone knows we have always done it this way" .. see the Meta Model

These are Translations of the Speakers experience and not Everyone's way of understanding these experiences.
In other words this is their own "Map of the world"

These are examples of Generalizations that can be Extreme at times depending on our own Values, such as:
"You said you would always be available"
In many cases the people using these statements have been influenced in their own experience to believe these statements to be unquestionable.

And People can possibly get upset when Challenged about their beliefs.

Beliefs can become entangled with a persons Identity at times especially when many in their peer group share their same beliefs and reinforce them regularly.

This can happens in:
  • Families
  • Organizations
  • Religions
  • Peer groups
  • Fraternities
  • Cultural environments
To Challenge a persons Beliefs can leave them in a state of confusion, they may then consider everything they know to be true is untrue and feel uncertain about their life.

This can often lead to arguments and anger if a person is determined to protect their Values and Beliefs, they may not be "open" to new ideas which feel uncomfortable and unfamiliar.

* When Beliefs and Values are challenged, there is an ecological way of doing this in Neuro linguistic programming which we will discuss at a later date.

Our Communication is influenced By other factors too such as:
Our Family, Religious, Cultural, Socially appropriate Beliefs

Submodalities:
In NLP a person will usually refer to 3 or more of these Senses in a particular order more often, even if using all 5 Submodalities VAK = Visual /Auditory / Kinesthetic are used most often even though Gustatory and Olfactory can be immense influential drivers.
  • Auditary (Hearing and Speaking)
  • Visual (Seeing)
  • Kinesthetic (Feeling and Feelings)
  • Olfactory (Smelling experiences)
  • Gustatory (Tasting experiences)
When we verbalize these representations we call them predicates.

We explain what our interpretation of these events mean to us.

And how we use our Submodality choices and convert them into the way we that we store this information.

How we then recall this information, digging into our unconscious mind, what it reminds us of and what else it connects to within us in our realm of experiences and processing.

Conclusions getting ready to communicate to the world after processing, now using our submodalities, Values, Beliefs, Deletions, Distortions to piece together "the story"

Explaining through our verbal and non Verbal communication our Take on the information after our own processing = Our Map of the world

It is not surprising when we consider these processes that we can all have "different takes" (example of Kinesthetic predicate) on the same experience.

Different things in the experience are more amplified to different people and so they may "focus more" (example of Visual predicate) on interpreting these sections of the experience as these "ring a bell" or "resound True" (example of Auditory Predicates) for them.

For now I hope this has been some "food for thought" (Olfactory/Gustatory predicate) that leaves you with a hunger for more knowledge about NLP (Kinesthetic /Gustatory predicate).

Remember, How we feel Influences our Actions and Behavior Consciously and Unconsciously. We are communicating something even by not communicating (Generalization).

Our Non Verbal Communication is even more powerful than our words (Generalization/Deletion/Distortion/MindRead and Auditory/ Kinesthetic predicate wrapped up in a "Map of the world").

Using Deletions Distortions Generalizations and often Mind Reads are common in Communication as we learn more about Language you will begin to notice these Violations more and more in everyday communication.

The objective is not necessarily to Challenge the violation, It is very useful to understand where a person is Coming from, their 'Map of the World" which will help us to learn their experience in processing and ultimately their actions.

NLP Technique -"The Threshold Pattern"

Our Next Study Group will be a demonstration and Practice of the "Threshold Pattern".

I have chosen The Threshold Pattern as I feel it is a fitting pattern to close out the Year with.

This Pattern will apply to anyone who has reached a point of movement within themselves for wanting change to occur Now in their lives.

Toward the End of the Year is a Great time to reflect on all of your successes and accomplishments and the Goals that you have not yet accomplished.

"The Threshold Pattern" will help you to Take action and start to master your Mind. Overcoming the Fear that had held you back in the past and remembering all your memories of this habit - Pain - Fear from the past. Reliving in a fully associated state several different instances of when this has been an issue before.

The fact is, it easy to get stuck in a rut at times. These things happen little by little and there are many different reasons for us to unconsciously begin an undesirable habit, at the time we may feel there is a certain amount of "Payoff" that out weighs the inconvenience of the undesirable habit Traits.

As long as we are still compromising our Authentic values for the "Payoff" we will be in what we at times call a "Stuck State", yes we may feel frustrated .. although not enough to be successful with the Threshold pattern.

The Threshold pattern will be effective when we have decided the "payoff" is no longer appealing to us and we are congruent with that.

At this point our focus is now fully associated to the pain of the Experience and the undesirable habit or behavior.

Our Values now become important again and we are able to redefine our Value's and have clarity in our Desires.

We are able to reach a permanent paradigm shift to our association with the habit or behavior.

What makes the pattern so effective is the Repulsion and Disgust with the previous behavior that you are willing to face and connect with Now, and how many times and how vividly you are willing to connect with it.

If you are planning to do this by yourself get a feel of it first as it works really well when done quickly to engage the Unconscious Mind.

Think of 5 Times at least when you were Embarrassed Humiliated and generally felt awful about the Habit/Behavior.

Imagine a Grand Scale Movie Screen. Make yourself the starring role and relive the Embarrassment, Pain, Humiliation and awful feeling as you see and hear the habit or behavior in play. *** Amplify all Submodalities *** (Senses)

Repeat this for each time that you remember this habit or behavior in action at Least 5 and do it very quickly.

Now Replay all of it in one Massive big movie of you doing the behavior /habit and commit to fully feel the disgust and repulsion of your own Accountability in this habit/behavior and just notice how pathetic you participating in the whole habit/behavior really was at the time.

Now REPLAY THE MOVIE AND AMPLIFY SUBMODALITIES EVEN MORE.

Crank it up until you are so Physically disgusted that you know congruently that will never be your life again !

Future Pace and make sure you are sure you are over it if faced with the Option in the future.

If needed run as many times as necessary until you are thoroughly sick of the Idea of you doing the habit/behavior.

Do it until you get it .... Be Sure to RSVP Now  if you would like to join us.

Remember at the foundation of any habit or behavior that is not enhancing your life is an abundance of Fear.

The Foundational Presuppositions of NLP | NLP is Fun

I love this Picture it comes from a Clip of the Matrix, an Excellent Film IMHO.
The Trilogy of the Matrix Movies are all good. I especially love the first one.

The Ideology is about Mind Bending and perceiving your experience from a different Point of view.

When you challenge the Traditional ways in which you access your own Values and Beliefs your thoughts begin to change, How you experience the world then will change also.

I like the idea of this so much I have included the clip for you to view.

So Much of what we know to be true is based on our own past Experience and that of other people and situations who have influenced us in the past, unconsciously dictates how we perceive each experience.

The interesting thing about this is that we often will not challenge our beliefs and believe them to be "Solid Gold" to the point where we may argue our Point with others and fail to see reason.
Sometimes we are actually "Arguing for our Limitations" ..

If this is of Interest to you and you would like to find out more on alternate Realities I strongly suggest you Invest in a copy of "Prometheus Rising" a Masterpiece in my opinion written by the Late Robert Anton Wilson who liked to speak about "Reality Tunnels" (or to those of you who who already familiar)... R.A.W!.

This is not his only great book so please take the time to get to know more of the books he has Authored many can be found on Amazon and I have included a Link.
Buy Books From R.A.W.

So This Leads me to Todays Topic which is about The Presuppositions of NLP.

NLP is Based on the Idea of a Certain Flexibility in Behavior, Perception and Attitude combined with building states of resourcefulness such as Confidence, Congruence and a willingness to believe in the possibility despite your most obvious current circumstance.

The Presuppositions of NLP cannot be proven to be true have been found useful as a vehicle of change and achieving out of the box thinking and so are a foundation to Universal acceptance and understanding of NLP.

I will Break these Presuppositions Down into 4 Categories:

1. Mental Processing.

The Map is Not the Territory - Alfred Korbzbski
(People Speak from their own interpretation of each experience.)

We are all slightly separate from "Reality" The maps we draw represent the experience although are not the experience ... Rather our representation there of.

People Respond according to their own internal Maps.
So depending on the persons internal interpretation of the Event will influence how He/she responds.

Meaning operates Context - Dependently
The words may be the same such as if I call my Partner Honey and I then call an old lady I help on the Bus Honey They both Mean different things.

Mind and Body affect each other
One can not operate without the other and each influence each other Mind/body act as a whole.

Individuals Function by accessing and sequencing Rep Systems
Representation systems are the way that people process and sequence the received Brainwave function that is communication into Action.

We respect each others Model of the world.
We fully understand appreciate and respect others interpret events differently to us even if we were all experiencing the same thing and interpreting it it differently.

2. Human Behavior Responses.

We are more than our Behavior
"I like Michael, although I didn't like what he did today "! (Person and Behavior are separate)

Every behavior has utility and context in some capacity
"He robbed a Bank and shot 3 people in the bank - His original Intention was to steal enough money to buy a liver transplant for his daughter - He got desperate and it all went wrong somewhere down the line". (Looking for the positive intention in each behavior) no matter how grotesque our original judgement may be.

We evaluate behavior and change in terms of context and ecology
Laughing Loudly at a funeral was inappropriate, Laughing loudly at the comedy club was appropriate. (Certain Behavior may not seem useful in one ecological circumstance although may even prove vital in others).

3. Communication Responses.

We cannot not communicate
Even without meaning to communicate we are communicating through our thoughts and energy.

The way we communicate affects perception and rejection
How we use Tonality, Facial expression, speech rate, Inflection and so on effects the delivery of the words we choose. Often changing the meaning and the way our meaning is received within others.

The meaning of communication is the response we get
The way others are responding to our communication is the way our Communication has been received (if we get responses we don't like with our communication we need to adjust our communication until we get the desired results). Accountability.

The one who sets the Frame for communication controls the actions
The originator of the communication sets the tone for the way the words are received. (Frame = Magnified interpretation)

There is no failure only feedback
As long as you have enjoyed the experience and gained something from it you are still able to continue until you succeed. Failure implies it has finished.

The person with the most Flexibility exercises the most influence in the system
More flexibility more choices which is continued movement forward as opposed to giving up or stopping because limitations of beliefs will not allow for flexibility.

Resistance indicates the lack of rapport.
With enough Rapport you can help people experience a different Map of the world and even influence them in anything.

4. Learning - Choice - Change.

People have the internal resources that they need to succeed
We have everything we need inside us, we all have the same internal processing equipment, we may just need somebody to help us access it.

Humans have the ability to experience "One Trial Learning"
humans can learn to associate anything with anything and do so very unconsciously, (this is how a Phobia is formed for example)

All communication should increase choice
If communication is masterfully crafted with flexibility in behavior and ideas the choices grow.

People make the best choices open to them at the time
People do the best they can at any given time.

We can run our own brains and control our results
We are able to control how we use our Brain and therefor are accountable for our Actions.

Control your Internal Dialogue | NLP is Fun

How much time do you spend worrying about things over and over again.

Or saying things to yourself to steal your Joy or make yourself feel bad.

Do you focus on things about yourself that make you feel bad.

Hear somebody from your past Knocking you and saying unkind words about you.

Talk yourself out of doing a thing and Repeat it over and over again.

If you have this kind of negative internal dialogue on Autorepeat in your head, you will soon find yourself lacking Confidence as you talk yourself out of things.

Even though these are only thoughts, thoughts become Suggestions when repeated and suggestions that are believed become Action which becomes our behavior.

Do you know that these thoughts even change your Physiology, the way you experience the world and interpret your experience with other people.

Let's talk about a way you can change all of this easily and with Practice, using NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

Self suggestions are just as powerful as Hypnotic suggestions it is a process or hypnotizing ourselves to believe what we repeatedly say to ourself these become familiar thoughts and lead to predictable Actions.

It's kind of like having a nagging Person constantly telling you, you are not good enough and in the end it may not seem worth even trying new things to improve your life as Fear and doubt begin to take over your thoughts.

Just for today ... begin to notice the kind of thoughts you are having, and how many of these are negative suggestions ?

When you become aware of the patterns you run through your mind you can interrupt them and also change them with a bit of practice.

Do you really believe you can change these negative thought patterns ?

Changing habits begin with a strong desire to take action now when you have decided the habit is no longer useful or helpful to you.

If you are ready to begin now here is an exercise to practice.

Sit comfortably and Close your eyes, listen to the direction your internal voice is coming from and note the tonality of the voice you may even recognize it as a voice from your past instead of your own voice if you really focus.

Now Change the Tonality of your voice into something utterly ridiculous, like a pink cow chewing green grass and saying these things with a mouse in a circus costume on their back.

Have fun with it and notice if you make the voice slow or stutter or high pitched or raspy and sexy how this changes the impact of your internal dialogue.

The more ridiculous the voice and then had your funny images the more you disarm the Impact of the voice, and you begin to feel better already.

Now find a voice that suits where you want to go with it, and also try that voice on, picture your own most powerful voice even see yourself at a time you were most powerful ;)) and now strongly place that voice in the direction you originally hear the voice coming from.

Take a moment to think about some negative things in the past you were used to saying inside your head.

Replace each negative statement with a confident and powerful statement instead using your new unwavering Powerful voice AND EXPERIENCE your most powerful Image.

How do you like that, I bet it feels amazing.

Do this as often as you can, and if for example you slipped back into old habits of negative internal dialogue just interrupt yourself Immediately, easy peasy !

Richard Bandler co - Founder of NLP says say Shut up "Shut up Shut up Shut the ____ UP"!

You can say whatever you like and make sure to remember when you are interrupting a pattern to make it juicy, so it must make an immediate impact and be a complete contrast to the mood your were in before.

Invent a pattern interrupt statement now so you are prepared...

Continue to repeat your new positive statements in your powerful unwavering voice.

Notice how this begins to change how you feel about yourself look in the mirror and watch your physiology change and note all other subtle shifts.

Now let's see how far we have come ...

Notice how your Physiology looks when you say negative words to yourself too, and remember how you communicate with yourself is the way you will experience the world and people will experience you.

NLP is Fun so have fun with it !

NLP Technique "The Agreement Frame" | NLP is Fun

You would not keep throwing multiple Balls to your dog in the park if you only wanted him to fetch the first one … Would you?

The Agreement Frame this is very useful in conflict resolution of all kinds as well as Sales and Negotiation. While a very simple language pattern to use the effects are very powerful and turns a potential negative disagreement into a positive agreement (pacing) and then (Leading) adding your mutual highest intention to the close.

In Business as in Life conflict happens let us be honest. What I have noticed more and more is that people have a hard time getting their emotions together when they feel as if they are caught off guard.

In order to perfect this Language pattern then, there are many other components to consider.

Breathe
Firstly begin to slow things down inside you so that you can observe your own breath, which will give you enough time to get your emotions in check. Three deep breaths in and out very slowly will help.

Focus
Focus on the Result you want instead of looping the offending incident or the disagreement.
Great Communicators do not allow anyone to take them off track (no matter how persuasive they are).
The Goal is always to find new and creative ways to get back on track,
While you may be able to use what the person you are communicating with is saying to influence their behavior, remember a simple formula of pacing and leading.

Patience
Remember to begin the pattern again even when it appears not to be working, change context, change tonality, Pace Rhythm breathing and maintain a calm state that supports the person you are speaking with while waiting patiently for your outcome.
It can be as simple as repeating what you are saying in new and creative ways.

Calibrate
Of course it will also be necessary to use finely tuned Sensory Acuity to Pace and Lead, detect and calibrate throughout the Process.

And
Instead of using "But" (which negates the previous statement) use "And" which also keeps the communication moving forward.

Be Congruent
Open your statement with Matching Body language and Facial expressions..
You can say

“I agree and ...”
“I appreciate and..”

Notice how we are using "And" instead of But.

Refrain from using "I understand" as we are all operating from different "Maps of the world" and you quite likely do not exactly understand although you can agree or appreciate.

Win Win
Discover what the highest intention of the objection is and then continue to elicit the Value until you find a mutual value (something that you have in common).

Example:
(Without the Agreement Frame)

Sheila: "Can you come over tonight I need some help stripping the wallpaper in the living room so when Mum and Dad are here this weekend the room looks fresh".

Mike: "I've had an exhausting day and all I want to do is flop on my bed when I get home I'll come after work tomorrow".

Result: "Dead End" no foot in the door to resume conversation.

Here is what happens when you use The Agreement Frame:

Sheila: "Can you come over tonight, I need some help stripping the wallpaper in the living room so when Mum and Dad are here this weekend the room looks fresh".

Mike: "Sheila I agree, And we should freshen the room for Mum and Dad.
Tell you what, I've had an exhausting day and all I want to do is flop on my bed when I get home, if I crash this evening I will have all the more strength to finish the whole thing tomorrow night, How does that sound".

Review
Did you notice how he agreed in the beginning "I agree and" (pacing and maintaining Rapport) ... and at the end he communicated the mutual highest intention of getting it done for Mum and Dad in time and provided a solution. (Leading)

This is an Elegant Language Pattern with a win win solution which diffuses any risk of breaking rapport in communication.

Rapport
Remember and maintain Rapport
Pace and then Lead
Calibrate for the highest intention you both agree on

Wrap the frame around your answer - as shown.
Keep going in new and creative ways using this formula until you get the result you are looking for.
Everyone wins with this pattern.

What is Neuro linguistic Programming (NLP) Anyway ?

The Three components that make up NLP are Neurology Language & Programming.
